However, as customs processes and allowances are different around the world, and because My Baggage has no control over any decisions made, we do advise doing your own research into Chinese customs regulations and quarantine before booking your shipment to China. Sending Personal effects to China
When sending your items to China it is extremely important that you understand that your items will be inspected by Chinese customs authorities who will assess your shipment. We are not in control of this process and cannot speed up or change the customs process. Chinese customs and our courier partner may get in touch with you directly to verify any of the information you supply therefore it is crucial that you provide the relevant documentation.
If your shipment is stopped by customs in China, this can on average delay your shipment by 1-10 working days.
Whilst we only give basic advice in regards to customs, it is always your responsibility to ensure you are using the right documentation as different regions in China may require different information.
The value limit on a Personal effects shipment is approximately CNY 800.00 (about £90.00) we strongly recommend keeping your items’ value beneath this as if your value exceeds this, you cannot have your items cleared as personal effects and may be subject to a heavy penalty.
In addition to your normal proforma invoice found in your “My Orders” section, we recommend including the following to help your item clear customs.

What type of packaging can be used?
When sending your belongings to China with My Baggage, we recommend using either suitcases or strong boxes to package your items so as they are suitable for transit.
We advise against using fragile or expensive suitcases, as packaging is not covered under our compensation cover. With regards to boxes, it’s always best to invest in a new, sturdy, double-walled cardboard box as they are most durable and suitable for transit.
If you are sending fragile or delicate items, we recommend using internal packaging to protect them during transit. You can use materials such as bubble wrap or newspapers.
