When preparing your shipment to China, it is important to ensure your package is fully compliant with shipping regulations. Firstly, check that your shipment does not contain any restricted or Prohibited Items. Please note that devices containing batteries (whether loose or fixed), storage devices such as hard drives, USB flash drives, CDs, and DVDs are currently prohibited and should not be sent to China. Your shipping label must be securely attached with the full China delivery address clearly visible. We also recommend placing an additional label inside your package, which helps with identification should the external one become damaged during international transit. Finally, double-check that your shipment's weight and measurements match the details provided in your booking.
There are a range of restricted items when sending shipments to China, so it is important that you review our Prohibited Items list before you send your package. You should also familiarise yourself with our No-Compensation Items list. These items can be sent but will not be covered for compensation in the rare event of damage. Although damage is uncommon, this is best avoided by packaging your items securely according to our Packaging Guidelines.
All shipments to China include access to our full online tracking system, so you can monitor your package’s journey every step of the way. Deliveries in China take place Monday to Friday between 9am and 6pm, excluding public holidays. To ensure a smooth delivery process, please make sure that the delivery location is accessible for the courier driver. For apartment buildings, residential complexes, and hotels, deliveries usually occur at reception or front desk areas. Please ensure that doorbells and buzzers are functional, as drivers cannot contact you directly by phone. While we deliver throughout China, please note that additional delivery time may be required for remote areas.
Shipments to China must pass through China Customs, and a full customs declaration form is required for every shipment. You may also be asked to provide a copy of your passport, and additional documents can be requested during clearance. When booking your shipment with My Baggage, the necessary customs forms will be generated for you automatically. These can be completed online through the ‘My Orders’ section after payment. Please note that items must remain unlocked to allow for customs inspections. Customs fees may apply, depending on the shipped items and declared values on your customs forms. If applicable, our courier partner will contact you to provide a detailed breakdown of charges, which can be paid securely online or by phone, ensuring swift clearance and delivery.
We offer both economy and express delivery options for shipping to China. A delivery estimate will be provided when you place your order. However, we strongly recommend allowing for unexpected transit or customs delays. Due to this, we do not advise sending time-sensitive items to China.
There are important restrictions on personal effects shipments to China. They may require clearance via a customs broker and must be sent to a residential address—not a holiday, hotel, or temporary stay destination. Shipments should only be arranged if relocating, as temporary or holiday baggage is not recommended due to customs limits. Please note the personal effects import limit for China is €/£/$125. If your shipment value exceeds this, it cannot be cleared under personal effects. Additionally, shipments can only qualify as personal effects if imported within six months of the owner’s passport arrival stamp, so items must not be sent prior to your arrival.
