TSA regulations only permit one carry-on bag and one small personal item. If you're traveling with a pet, it's important to remember that pet-carriers will be counted as part of your carry-on allowance.
Southwest Airlines passengers are permitted to carry one piece of carry-on baggage not exceeding 24 x 16 x 10 Inches (60 x 40 x 25cm), which can be placed into the overhead locker.
Additionally, one small personal item is permitted. It must not exceed 18.5 x 8.5 x 13.5 Inches, and needs to fit under the seat in front of you.
Southwest Airlines allows two checked pieces of baggage free of charge per ticketed Customer, provided the bags don’t exceed 50 lbs and 62 inches (L+W+H).
Overweight checked baggage will incur a charge of $100 for weights between 51-70 Ibs, or $125 for weights between 71-100 Ibs.
Oversized baggage that is larger than 62 inches (up to 80 inches), will incur a charge of $125 per bag.
You may substitute certain items as part of your checked baggage allowance, as long as they do not exceed 62 inches, and does not weigh more than 50 Ibs. If it exceeds the stated measurements or weights, additional charges will apply.

If you are travelling with a child under the age of 2, that will not be occupying a seat then you do not need to purchase a flight ticket. However you must carry their boarding verification document with them.
Southwest Airlines also offer tickets for children over the age of two, at a lower price than adult fares. A child over the age of 2 must have their own seat and have a boarding pass on flight with them. All children should be accompanied by an adult on the aircraft.
