If you’re travelling with Flybe on an upcoming flight, here’s everything you need to know about your Flybe baggage allowance, restrictions, fees and charges.
Flybe passengers can carry one small cabin bag measuring no more than 45 x 36 x 20cm including wheels and handles. This should be a small item such as a handbag, laptop bag or backpack that can fit under the seat in front of you, and it must not exceed 7KG.
If your cabin bag exceeds dimensions and weight limits it will be checked into the aircraft hold and the appropriate fee will be applied at the departure gate.
|Lite||Flybe lite is the standard and most common fare that includes a small carry-on bag at 7kg. Extras are available for an additional fee.|
|Smart||Flybe smart is slightly more expensive than lite. It offers 15kg hold baggage allowance, small carry-on bag at 7kg, and seat selection in specific rows.|
|Plus||Flybe plus gives you everything you need, including 23kg hold baggage allowance, small carry-on bag at 7kg, seat selection in any row, free ticket changes (restrictions apply), and fast-track security.|
Hold luggage fees and allowances will depend on your ticket type. ‘Flybe smart’ passengers will receive 15kg checked baggage, and ‘Flybe plus’ passengers will receive 23kg checked baggage. ‘Flybe lite’ passengers will be required to purchase any hold luggage.
Flybe offers two hold options for customers to purchase online; Flybe smart allows one checked bag at 15kg, and Flybe plus allows one checked bag at 23kg. Both fare options include one small cabin bag at 7kg. Excess luggage charges apply to all hold bags which exceed the 23kg pre-booked allowance. Hold bags may only be purchased for the whole journey. No single item of hold luggage may weigh more than 32kg.
Prices are per person, per one-way flight. Passengers are advised to book baggage online, rather than at the airport as it is much cheaper.
Flybe offers the opportunity to pre-book and increase your hold luggage allowance (no single item can be more than 32kg, however, you can book multiple items), however, should you wish to carry hold luggage in excess of this permitted pre-bookable allowance, excess baggage charges will apply. If your hold baggage exceeds your pre-booked weight allowance, you will be charged a fee of £10 per extra kilogram.
When travelling on a Flybe flight, there are certain ‘exceptional items’ which may be carried free of charge. These include pushchairs, prams, travel cots, car seats, wedding dress, bridesmaid dress, suit, mobility equipment. There are also certain exceptional items which can be carried for an additional fee. Items such as sporting equipment and musical instruments will be charged at £30 per item, each way. Each exceptional item placed in the hold has a weight allowance of up to 23kg (subject to space available in the aircraft hold). Should items exceed this allowance, standard excess baggage fees apply. If you intend to travel with an exceptional item, it is advised to contact Flybe prior to booking in case there are specific instructions relating to your item.
For those who purchase ‘Flybe smart’ or ‘Flybe plus’ tickets, baggage allowances can be quite generous. However, as these kinds of premium tickets are significantly more expensive, the standard ‘Flybe lite’ ticket is the most popular. Everything went well. The only issue was that DHL didn't pick up the bags when we understood they were going to. It was very difficult to contact them. However when My Baggage was contacted they got onto it right away. Relieved my stress for sure.

This ended up being a blessing in disguise for our travel. We had all 3 of our flights rescheduled the day of international travel, had we not shipped our bags, we would be embarking on a 30 day journey with no luggage. The only comment non positive was the inability to definitely pinpoint the time of pickup.

After a Google search I came across My Baggage. The booking process was simple but took a bit of effort to complete the custom form. Option to select pick up & drop off dates. Arrived a day before the expected date. Seemed a bit expensive but overall worth it.
